Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes, and trends shaping the world. They conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis, and other data-driven social science research.
Conduct ongoing user research and build a robust body of knowledge about the site's target audiences including:
Moderated user interviews
Unmoderated usability tests using usertesting.com
Website survey
Create a shared understanding of the target audiences' needs and expectations across the team though incorporating research-based user insights in the design process
Communicate with developers, designers, researchers, copy editors, and the legal team throughout each project to ensure that both organizational and user needs have been met with the proposed solutions
Promote human-centered design culture in the digital team by organizing and leading design thinking workshops and educational brown bags
Coach other members of the digital team about UX research and interaction design best practices
Provide subject matter expertise in data visualization and interaction design
Create user artifacts such as user archetypes and use cases
Help the team define the right problems to solve by leveraging research findings
Develop evaluation strategies and define success across multiple digital offerings
Create low and high fidelity wireframes, flow charts, and journey maps to better illustrate proposed experiences and minimize miscommunication

Even though I was not able to measure UX maturity before I started my work there, based on leadership feedback, my work made a significant impact in the literacy with which staff members talked about the website and it's users
I organized and led the center's first Design Thinking activities, more specifically discovery sessions and design review workshops.
